Independent Living Specialist-Bottineau, ND

We are looking for an Independent Living Specialist to work
out of our Bottineau, ND office. This position has two primary functions.
First, it will assist youth and young adults to prepare for the workforce by
developing pre-employment and independent living skills in a school and/or
community based setting. Second, it will provide information and referral,
advocacy, skills training and vocational skills training to adults with
disabilities. This job requires you to able to work well independently and be
able to learn complicated tasks quickly. The ideal candidate will possess the
ability to communicate well with people from various social and ethic backgrounds
both verbally and in writing.
This job is approximately
24-28 hours per week.

Independence, Inc. is looking for a natural leader to serve
as our next Youth Transition Specialist.
The Youth Transition Specialist (YTS) is responsible to
provide independent living and transition services to youth with all types of
disabilities. Primarily based in a school setting, the YTS will provide group
and classroom based training's to better prepare students for successful lives.
The YTS will be a
primary point of contact for Independence, Inc.’s youth transition program,
BEYOND (Building and Encouraging Youth Opportunities in North Dakota). BEYOND
is a character-based approach for youth with disabilities ages 14-22. It is
designed to help students in the transition from the secondary school
environment to independence in the world of work, post-secondary education, and
Travel within a multi-county area is required for this
position. This is a full time postion.
Combination of personal, professional and
educational experiences that provide youth with the skills, knowledge, and
abilities to work with youth with a variety of disabilities.
Experience developing training curricula and
materials and conducting one-on-one and group training.
Proficient in Microsoft Word and experience
using a database to document services.
Demonstrated commitment to changing outcomes for
youth with disabilities.
