Independence Seeks Advocate of the Year Nominees

At this year’s “Celebrating Independence” event on July, 11h from 5 pm-7 pm at Oak Park we will be presenting two awards….

1) The Advocate of the Year award honors a leader within the service area of Independence, Inc. The award is given to an individual who has fought hard to:

·         Improve the conditions and opportunities in the community for people with disabilities.

·         Increased the community awareness of issues related to disabilities.

·         Work towards removing barriers for people with disabilities.

·         Worked to improve community participation for people with all types of disabilities.

And…

2) The Youth Advocate of the Year award honors a young leader within the service area of Independence, Inc. The Youth Advocate of the Year is given to an individual who has fought hard to:

·         Improve the conditions and opportunities in the community for people with disabilities.

·         Increase community awareness of issues related to disabilities.

·         Work towards removing barriers for people with disabilities.

·         Inspire youth to become future leaders and advocates for the disability community.

 

Please see the attached nomination forms, and nominate anybody you feel is appropriate for either award. Please feel free to forward this message to anybody you know who may know somebody to nominate.
