Independence, Inc. is seeking applications from community members to serve on our Board of Directors.
We have a nine member board, of which over half must be people with significant disabilities. Board members are elected to two year terms, and can serve a maxim of 6 years. The board meets quarterly, unless additional meetings are needed. Each Board member is also expected to serve on at least one sub-committee of the board.
The board is responsible for the overall direction of the organization.
The role of the Board is to serve as fiduciaries who steer the organization towards a sustainable future by adopting sound, ethical, and legal governance and financial and programmatic management policies, as well as making sure Independence, Inc. has resources to advance its mission.
